Graphic - Luke 13.31-35 (A Lament fot he City)

There's this great scene in the film, "Miss Congeniality."

Sandra Bullock plays an FBI Agent named Gracie who goes undercover in a beauty pageant in an attempt to thwart an immenent terroist attack.

In the pageant, the host asks the question, "What's the one most important thing our society needs?" And the contestants all answer, "World peace."

That is, until the question is asked of Gracie. She responds by saying, "That would be harsher punishment for parole violators...." The shocked look on the host's face is matched only by the stunned silence of the audience.

Realizing she needs to save the moment, Gracie quickly adds, "...and world peace!" The audience erupts in a standing ovation.

This is a classic scene, and the question is a good one.

What is the one most important thing our society needs?

How do you think Jesus might answer that question?

We're going to look at Jesus' lament not only over the state of the world, but over the state of Jerusalem.

And it all started with Jesus being informed that Herod the tetrarch/terrorist wanted to kill him.

Join us this Sunday as we take a look at an important episode of the life of Jesus that not only reveals what Jesus saw as the world's most important need but helps us to understand the relevance of his message for our lives, our city, and our world today.

Please join us in person at 10am this Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn. We are also offering a livestream option through our Facebook Page for those who cannot attend in person at this time.
