My heart broke as I read the news earlier this week: 

Following the killing of more than 60 Chrisitans in Nigeria earlier this month, 51 Christians were slaughtered last weekend by Islamists in the region. 

I was sad and angry at the senseless slaughter. 

As I looked at pictures of Nigerian Christians carrying the coffins of their loved ones, the thought struck me, "What would you say to them if you had the chance to speak with them?" 

I've learned the hard way over the years to not be too quick to speak in such circumstances. It is good to weep with those who weep simply communicating I am with you. 

But then I remembered the words of the Apostle Paul written from prison to his ministry partner Timothy. He wrote, "Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead...." 

I think if I were to say anything, I would want it to be these words.

Why? Because the resurrection of Jesus changes everything. For Paul & Timothy, for our Nigerian brothers and sisters, and for us.
