Mercy Hill Sunday Gathering - April 27, 2025

Brandt Jean shocked the nation with his powerful victim impact statement.
His brother, Botham, had been shot and killed by an off-duty Dallas police officer who claimed she thought she was entering her own apartment when she saw what she believed was an intruder.
She was later found guilty of murder.
But during the trial, Botham’s brother Brandt took the stand and said to Amber Guyger, the woman convicted of killing his brother:
"If you truly are sorry... I forgive you. And I know that if you go to God and ask Him, He will forgive you too."
He then asked the judge if he could give her a hug—and the judge said yes.
Brandt’s act of forgiveness and compassion stirred both tears and outrage.
Tears because what he did was so rare. And outrage because many felt he should not have done it.
So why did Brandt forgive?
Join us this Sunday as we explore the power and challenge of forgiveness in our series, "One Another-ing."
We hope to see you at 5pm on Sunday at Rivergate (5422 Cole Lane, College Station). Here’s the link to the Digital Worship Guide.
See you there!
Pastor John
