"Is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?

These words were spoken by Jaquin Pheonix in his role as Arthur Fleck who would become "The Joker" in the recent film by the same name. The film shows the psychological breakdown of Arthur Fleck, giving Batman lovers the backstory of this peculiar villian.

I don't know about you, but it does seem like it's getting crazier out there.

Here's a question for you: How do you process all that is happening in this world with your faith in God?

For some of us, no doubt, what we see going on in this world presents various challenges to belief in God, especially in the belief of the goodness of God.

If God is good, then why does it seem like wicked people not only get away with it, but actually seem to prosper. What's more, they seem to flaunt it even mocking God in the process.

This Sunday, we're going to begin a new series in Psalm 73 as Asaph, an ancient poet and musician, puts this struggle into his own words:

Truly God is good to Israel,
to those who are pure in heart.
But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled,
my steps had nearly slipped.
For I was envious of the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

Join us this Sunday as we take a serious look at a complicated problem: how do we reconcile the goodness of God with a world that just seems to be getting crazier out there--a world where people seem to get away with, even prospering as they laugh their way to the bank, and folks who try to live right by God and by others seem to be forgotten.

We hope to see you this Sunday at 10am at the Hilton Garden Inn. Here’s a copy of the worship folder.

See you then,

Pastor John
