Mercy Hill Sunday Gathering - March 27, 2022

Graphic - Luke 18.1-8 (Prayer and the Coming Revolution of God)

When you dream of this world becoming a better place, what does it look like?

For me, it looks like nation not lifting up sword against nation, exploitation and human trafficking never occurring, no child ever being abused or neglected.

It looks like, as the prophets envisioned, everyone being able to sit under their own vine and fig tree. It looks like there being no one and no thing that shall make them afraid (Micah 2:4).

If you can imagine a better world, then you're using a similar fertile imagination that informed Jesus when he talked about the coming kingdom of God.

In the passage from the life of Jesus of Nazareth that we'll look at this Sunday, we will see Jesus teaching his disciples to pray for this future, and to not lose heart.

Then he tells a story comparing and contrasting an unjust and corrupt judge with the just and righteous Judge of all the earth, with a helpless widow longing for justice at the center of it all.

And we'll see Jesus wondering if when that day finally comes when God sets this world to right, will anyone be found praying longingly, doggedly, tenaciously for the arrival of the kingdom of God.

Join us this Sunday as we look at this fascinating teaching of Jesus and as we seek to become the kind of people Jesus wants for his revolution.
