This has been quite the week, huh?

We've lived through one of the most contentious political cycles in our lifetime, and that's saying a lot.

Some folks are thrilled with the results having seen their candidates win and hope better days ahead, and others are disappointed and nervous about what the future holds.

I'm no prophet, but I've been reflecting a lot on a phrase from Jesus' teachings, "...the love of most will grow cold."

I don't know about you, but that seems to be an accurate diagnosis of our times. Whether it's attack ads on tv, the cancel culture we live in, or the relentless negativity of social media, it does seem like the love of many has grown cold.

How should we then live?

I'm reminded of something Gandalf said when Frodo lamented, "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf wisely replied, "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to do is to decide what to do with the time that has been given us."

But what if we are here to do more than just decide from among the various options that seem to strike our fancy?

What if there is something fundamentally human that we have been called to that enables us to decide what to do with the time that God has given us?

What if there is indeed a mandate for times such as these?

This week, we'll look at a place in the Scripture that doesn't just give us an option for living in our times. It sometimes goes by the name of "The Micah Mandate" taken from something the prophet Micah said about doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with the Lord.

We hope you can join us this Sunday at 10am at the Hilton Garden Inn. Here’s a copy of the worship folder.

See you then,

Pastor John
