The More Things Change

August 16, 2020 Speaker: John Ferguson Series: Ecclesiastes

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 4:1–16

During this time of the pandamic, we all long for things to return to normal. But as we learn from the wise Sage of Ecclesiastes, what we normally consider as normal is anything but normal.

And the Sage doesn't whitewash anything. As he looks around at this world (and directs our gaze to see what he sees), everything is supposed to be different.

And that's why Ecclesiastes is not only the perfect book for our times, but it also paves the way for us to understand the person and work of Jesus who not only experienced life in this broken and fractured world, but took that brokenness upon himself and whose resurrection guarantees a "new normal," the kind we all long for when everything will be made new.
