When the gospel writer, Matthew, sets up his biography of Jesus to tell us about the birth of the one who would save his people from our sins, he begins with a genealogy that connects him back to a man named Abraham.
"The book of the genealogy of Jesus, the Messiah, the Son of David, the son of Abraham" (Matthew 1:1)
Why does Matthew tell us this piece of information? What is the significance of Jesus being the son of Abraham?
It has nothing less to do than with the promise God made to Abraham to bring blessing and healing to this world.
Join us today as we journey through this Advent season together and prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas.
