Do you know the saying, "The proof is in the pudding"?

I have no idea how this saying came about, but I do know what it means: the real worth of something is found by putting it to the test.

In our study of The Book of James this Sunday, we're going to hear the half brother of Jesus tell us that the real worth of our profession to follow Jesus is found when we examine the words that come out of our mouth.

The way James puts it, we need to "bridle the tongue."

Such an interesting picture isn't? We normally think of a bridle as something used to control or restrain or train a horse, but James says we need to put a bridle on our tongue. We need to control it. We need to restrain it and train it.

In other words, one place you can tell if "the proof is in the pudding" when it comes to what a follower of Jesus really believes is shown in how well he or she can bridle the tongue.

Join us this Sunday as look at this challenging passage and seek to answer the question, How should my faith in Jesus affect even the words that come (or don't come) out of our mouths.
