Below are some F.A.Q.s – frequently asked questions – about visiting Mercy Hill Church.

Do I have to be a Christian to come visit Mercy Hill Church?

No you don’t. Though many of us are, we welcome people no matter what their backgrounds or beliefs or honest questions. We are more than happy for you to come and simply check things out.

We want Mercy Hill to be a place where you can safely explore the teachings of Jesus Christ without pressure. We’d be honored if you’d use the resources of our community to grow in your understanding of yourself and your Creator.

Do I have to stand up and introduce myself or say something?

No. You can come and simply observe the service if you’d like.

Of course, we’d love the opportunity to meet you and say hello. There is an information table, plus coffee and refreshments before and after the service.

What should I wear?

Please come comfortably. You will find that people wear whatever they are comfortable in–everything from dresses & ties, to jeans and sneakers, to shorts & sandals.

So our advice is to simply come as you are. You’ll fit right in.

What is the worship like?

Worship at Mercy Hill Church is rich, joyful, and reverent.

When you arrive, you will be given a worship folder which contains an outline for this Sunday’s worship service. Here’s a sample of our worship folder.

You will notice that we sing a variety of contemporary songs as well as historic hymns . Often, we will have a guitar & a keyboard for instruments. The Scripture lesson given by the pastor usually lasts around 25-30 minutes. We observe the Lord’s Supper every week.

All in all, we aim for a worship service that lasts for about 60-70 minutes. Since our worship service starts at 10am, we’re always done well before noon. We leave time for refreshments immediately following the service if you’d like some.

Are you going to ask for my money or anything?

During the service, there is an offering which is an opportunity for those of us who call Mercy Hill Church our home to support of the ministry and mission of Mercy Hill.

There is no pressure or any expecations that you should participate in this offering. You are our guest, and we are delighted to have you visit.

In fact, just for coming we’d like to give you something: a free copy of Dane Ortland's book, "Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers."

It's a great explanation of one of the most powerful stories Jesus ever taught that reveals God’s lavish grace toward all kinds of people.

Is there childcare available?

Yes. At the moment, we provide a nursery for children ages 0 up to 5 years of age during the worship service. We also have coloring pages for kids who stay with their parents in the service. (You can pick a clipboard of coloring pages up at the Welcome Table.)

You can learn more about our nursery here. Sign in is easy.

We will also be launching a Sunday School soon. Stay tuned for more details.
